I’d like to say I found him out there, but Jethro found me, and I’m so very glad he did. From the first few seconds of listening to him, I was sold. To be honest, I’m enamoured with his songs. I do hope you’ll feel the same way too. Here’s a few questions with Jethro and some links and videos to catch up with him.Be sure to watch the video below for Blinding Light. It’s really quite good!
What are your top records this year?
Can I go for individual songs? In which case I’d say firstly Radiohead - Staircase. I thought it was better than anything from the new album. And Cults - You Know What I Mean. I think that came out this year! So hopefully it counts.
Who would we be surprised is on your Spotify/iTunes playlist?
Converge. I grew up listening to a lot of hardcore punk, and I still do. Its a big influence on another band I’m in called Carnival Kids. I think the album Jane Doe by Converge is actually incredible. If you read the lyric booklet, its all really amazing poetry, set to really visceral music. Its awesome.
It’s very important to me, in that I spend most of my time doing it. Therefore my life would probably be very boring without it!
What is your favourite food? Drink?
What is your current favourite song?
Charles Bradley - The World (Is Going Up In Flames). I defy anyone not to find it really addictive. My bezzie mate Sam (bass player in Anna Lena and the Orchids) put me on to this track; it’s not something I’d normally listen to but I can’t stop putting it on.
What can we expect from you this year?
I’m hopefully doing a bit of recording over the next couple of months, then I’ll be promoting that next release in Autumn with some gigs. I’m planning on playing around Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and London if possible.
What is the last film you’ve seen?
Apocalypse Now. It was the first time I’d ever seen it, and I was lucky enough to see it in a cinema. I was completely blown away. The use of music and sound in it is really cool too.
What is your favourite book?
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.
And… what is one thing about you that we’d all be surprised to know?
I used to play in a death metal band called Ritual Slaughter. This is no joke. We could have been seminal! That is probably a joke.
