A few questions... with Hannah Farthing

What are your top records this year?
Matt Nathanson’s new record Modern Love is definitely my favourite record of the year so far. His songs are perceptive, wonderfully crafted and completely addictive - see his single Faster. I discovered him after a friend introduced me and I’ve been hooked on his music ever since! His voice, his lyrics, his melodies… they’re beyond beautiful. I also love Bon Iver –Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes – Helplessness Blues. They are equally beautiful, and I find them great to listen to while driving.

Who would we be surprised is on your Spotify/iTunes playlist?
Sky Sailing – An Airplane Carried Me To Bed, it’s a record by Adam Young before he was Owl City and it’s just so wonderfully escapist, whimsical and magical like all of his music. I love it!

What does music mean to you?
Music is what helps me make sense of the world, and without it I would be lost.

What is your favourite food? Drink?
Oh my gosh, Oreo milkshakes!

What is your current favourite song?
Right now I find myself listening to ‘Mercy’ by Matt Nathanson over and over, it’s such a good song!

What can we expect from you this year?
Well I released my single “Waiting” in the spring of this year, and since then I’ve been playing shows and working on my first proper album. I also made a video to my single “Waiting” which is up on my YouTube channel (HannahFarthing) now! I’m rather proud of it because I made it myself with videos I’ve taken over the past year, mainly from a trip to America which was kind of what inspired the song. I’m not sure yet of the album release date, but I’m hoping to complete it in Autumn/Winter this year. So… hopefully it’ll be available on iTunes as well as in physical copy, all information and updates will be posted on my Facebook and Twitter pages: follow @hannahfarthing

What is the last film you’ve seen?
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2! Although I refrained from purchasing the special edition 3D glasses…

What is your favourite book?
Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen, probably because it’s the book I’m reading at the moment!

And… what is one thing about you that we’d all be surprised to know?
You’ve just read my first interview! Oh, and on clear nights you’ll find me staring out of my window, most probably getting lost in the depths of the universe… either that or writing lyrics.
