After what seems like years of hibernation, Mumford & Sons are back on tour. To usher them back on the road, there is also news of an album release date (finally!). The follow up to Sigh No More is going to be released on 24th September but since September seems so far away, they had decided to satisfy their fans needs with something very special.
This week Mumford & Sons start a string of UK gigs including their two Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers. These Stopover shows if you haven’t heard are a outdoor, one day long festival event headlined and curated by Mumford & Sons and will feature various different acts like Rarebit Music’s favorites, The Vaccines, Michael Kiwanuka, Slow Club, and more. In order to play somewhere that usually isn’t toured, the Stopover Shows are off the beaten path. On Saturday 2nd June, the Stopover Shows are kicking off in Greenhead Park, Huddersfield (UK) followed by Salthill Park, Galway (Ireland) a week later Saturday 9th June. Inspired by the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and Loopallu Festival, these one-day festivals will involve the local communities from a specially local brewed ale in Huddersfield, to farmers’ market, and after event shows like comedy and jazz nights in different local venues.
To get everyone pumped for the Stopover shows, Mumford & Sons put together a special playlist of their favorite songs of the bands that will be joining them on this “traveling Victorian circus” or “Victorian traveling circus”.
