Philadelphia-based musician Tim Showalter, better known by the moniker Strand Of Oaks, performed to a packed venue of excited fans recently in Louisville, KY. Performing a nice variety of songs this evening, he performed several from his latest album Hard Love. Starting things off with “Weird Ways”, he performed 13 song set that also included “Goshen ‘97’”, “Ruby”, “Eraserland”, “Hyperspace Blues” and “Shut In”. Talking about the hard time he he went through before making the album, he mentioned that his good friends in My Morning Jacket helped him through his struggles and in getting his album made, giving them a shout out. Also, in lieu of not having Emma Ruth Rundle, who provided guest vocals, available to join him on stage, Showalter instead invited Louisville musician Lacy Guthrie of Twin Limb to join him for a few songs on stage. With the band and the crowd in high spirits this evening, feeding off of each other’s energy, everyone was having a great time and Showalter had a smile on his face for a majority of his set. Ending the set with “Rest Of It”, the band left the stage only to come back out for one final song. Ending the evening with “Forever Chords”, Showalter capped of what was an amazing evening of music. La rock band Apex Manor opened the show, pulling double duty as Showlater’s backing band, as well! It was a great night of music!
